Pocket Book 18th May
Following a visit to Sunny Bank Mills Threads Festival, a quick review of all things textile and their thought provoking exhibition.
To Exhibit
Firstly, if you are going to visit Sunny Bank Mill (home of the Sewing Bee) then the exhibition Touchlines: The Delicate Boundaries of Care and Cloth by The 62 Group of Textile Artists is well worth a visit.
In Touchlines, artists explore the subtle thresholds where contact is felt, withheld, or transformed. Set within the historic spaces of Sunny Bank Mills, the exhibition draws connections between textile labour, sporting cultures, and human relationships, asking how boundaries shape intimacy, care, and collective identity.
To Show
We visited on Sunday the weekend for the really well curated makers fair. The lovely Cone Exchange were there with their bags of loveliness, A Handful of Thread had some cute buttons and brooches with fine embroidery and Live Love Give Art with her beautiful kits. I may have bought a few things to make home …
To Wander
Apart from the Threads festival, Sunny Bank has a range of artists studios, shops, galleries and a cafe to tempt on any day of the week. Shops include Hoop for all your knitting supplies, School of Sew/Mill Creations for sewing, the Gallery Shop for homewares such as Folk incense and studios filled with amazing artists. It’s worth going on their mailing list for the makers fairs and open studios.
Hope you had a good weekend and let us know if you visit Sunny Bank Mills and if you have any recommendations for visits in your area, Charlotte

I just loved this exhibition - such thoughtful and thought provoking work. Truly inspirational. A good write up in this weekend’s @theyorkshirepostmagazine.
