To Colour
I have no idea how this popped into my feed or what I was doing for it to appear but, for a bit of whimsy, you can find out the Pantone colours relating to your birth chart on this website.
The site says: “A Pantone birth chart palette is a visual moodboard that turns astrological placements into colour swatches. It uses Sun, Moon, Rising, and Venus because those placements are those most often shared in social colour palette trends.”
For anyone who is interested in astrology and colour theory this is a joy. I found it quite interesting and the colours are those I would wear. Please share if you do try it as would love to know what you think.
To Stitch
Moving on to something which is just delightful - the French artist La Filature (real name Sandrine Torredemer) began embroidering at five years old with her grandmother and great-grandmother and hasn’t stopped since.
Originally from Perpignan, near the Mediterranean coast, Torredemer is inspired by beaches, and interprets photos by combining old fabrics with embroidery to create intricate vacation scenes. “I have always loved summer,” she says. “Everything seems lighter and carefree, problems are put aside. There’s a whole little world organising its life around a parasol and a few colourful towels.”
Please explore her work as it is so lovely and so reminds me of beach holidays in France and the UK.
To Knit
Finally, a little project for you to start over the summer to keep you warm as the nights draw in. Louise Tilbrook has a pattern for a mitered square blanket (sometimes called memory blanket). She says that the wonderful things about them is that you can really personalise them and make them your own as this pattern is really just a basic recipe to help you get the idea of how they are constructed and after that you really can freestyle to your hearts content.
The blankets are ideal for stashbusting and using up scraps of yarn - what better that making a real, beautiful, practical "thing" from a what is essentially a bag full of scraps. Hoping to get round to making one of these so will share any progress I make!
